Inspired by the early ’70s, Adam Lambert has released the music video for “Superpower”, the first official taste from his upcoming fourth studio album, “Velvet: Side A”, which is set to be released on September 27th.
The disco-infused track was written by Adam himself alongside Ilsey and Tommy English.
Directed by Millicent Hailes, the colorful music video features the former American Idol contestant and his friends posturing around the streets of Brooklyn.
“Superpower was inspired by all the crazy stuff going on in the world” explained Lambert in an interview. “There’s a lot of groups of people that get discriminated against or get ostracised. I wanted to make a song to make people in that situation feel like they didn’t have to take it”.
“Superpower” follows the singles “Feel something“, “New eyes” and Comin in hot”.
Lyrics:
There’s something missing and I’m pissed and I’ve got something to say (Oh yeah)
All of the witches and the demons better get out my way (Aye aye)
I get back up when I fall
Rip the paint from the wall
When I win, I’ma run and take the money
Try to put me in a box
Make me something I’m not
Don’t give a fuck ’cause I’m gonna take back
My superpower, my superpower
My superpower
My superpower, my superpower
My superpower
I know I’m not the only one who thinks this shit ain’t ok (Oh no)
You kick us down in the dirt but we ain’t goin’ away (Aye aye)
I get back up when I fall
Rip the paint from the wall
When I win, I’ma run and take the money
Try to put me in a box
Make me something I’m not
Don’t give a fuck ’cause I’m gonna take back
My superpower, my superpower
My superpower
My superpower, my superpower
My superpower
My superpower, my superpower
My superpower
My superpower, my superpower
My superpower
Don’t you wanna be, do you wanna be free?
Say oh-oh-oh-oh
Don’t you wanna be, do you wanna be free?
Say oh-oh-oh-oh
Say oh-oh-oh-oh
My superpower
My superpower, my superpower
My superpower
