American singer-songwriter Danny Gokey has unveiled another taste of his new album “Jesus people” which is due out on August 20th.
The track “He believes in you” is a power ballad produced by Colby Wedgeworth (The Maine, Jordan Feliz, Colton Dixon).
“Jesus people” is an album that touches on various themes from love, gratitude and truth. Also it’s full of collaborations with some great names of the music industry like Koryn Hawthorne, Christine D’Clario and Angie Rose.
About the upcoming project, the American Idol finalist said: “I believe there is something musically and inspirationally for everyone on this album–it’s full of hope and encouragement that I think we can all use right now”. “In the writing process and also in choosing the title, I was inspired by the life of Jesus and how His presence has been a staple throughout history. He was a figure that brought the broken, the hurting, and those that had lost their dreams together in a unifying way, and that’s something I inspire to do. Musically, I got to explore some new things and cross some genre borders. I’m excited for listeners to hear the collaborations with the special guests featured on the project, including Gospel, Latin, and even a little rap. It’s something I love doing and hope to do more of in the future”.
Gokey’s last album “Haven’t seen it yet” was released in 2019.
Lyrics:
Has your confidence been shaken
Is your faith in yourself fading
Been there too long to know what to make of it anymore
Just know that you’re stuck and can’t get free
Don’t even know what you need
Pain has become the safest of places
And you’re too tired to finish the race
And all your doubt too big to get around
When the waves and the wind push harder
When you feel like you can’t get through
He is there with you in the water
And He believes in you
When you’re lost and you’re broken hearted
When your shame is an open wound
He is holding you at your darkest
And He believes in you
The One who took the cross for you
He believes in you
He wouldn’t put you through the fire
If He couldn’t take you higher
Gotta remember He is still for you
Calls you His daughter, calls you His son
There’s no mistake that could ever take that away
He’s for you, He’s for you
When the lies try to pull you under
When you’re desperate for something true
Let your heart hear the voice of the Father
Cause He believes in you
