After a terrorist bombing at her concert in Manchester, U.K. last year, Ariana Grande is still carrying the weight of that tragedy.
So, she decided to dedicate her new single “No tears left to cry” to her fans who lost their lives.
The emotional r&b-pop track, written by Ariana herself with Ilvya, Savan Kotecha and Max Martin, showcases the singer’s powerful and amazing voice.
The Inception-inspired music video, directed by Dave Meyers, finds the 24-year-old artist in the midst of surreal skyscrapers at night.
In the final 20 seconds of the clip, a worker bee, the symbol of Manchester, flies on screen in homage to the city.
Meanwhile, more details have emerged about Grande’s new album. The record will feature Pharrell Williams and it will be “deeply personal”.
About it, Ariana’s manager Scooter Braun said: “She has such an extraordinary voice and it’s time for her to sing the songs that define her. Whitney, Mariah, Adele… when they sing, that’s their song. Ariana has big vocal moments; it’s time for her song.”
Grande’s last full album “Dangerous woman” debuted at number one in the UK and number two in the US. It also spawned a string of hits including “Into you” and the Nicki Minaj-assisted single “Side to side”.
