French singer and Youtuber Bilal Hassani, who participated in the second season of The Voice Kids four years ago, has been chosen to represent France at this year Eurovision song contest.
Hassani, 19, was born in Paris to a Moroccan Muslim family from Casablanca. From an early age he displayed a remarkable aptitude for music starting to sing at the tender age of 5.
First single was “Wanna be”, released in 2016 followed by severals singles and collaborations.
Bilal’s debut album “Kingdown” saw the light last April. It contains Eurovision entry “Roi”, which means King in English.
The track, co-written by Medeline and pop duo Madame Monsieur, is a strong ballad about self-acceptance. It’s a bilingual song that mix French and English.
