The Voice US 2018 winner Brynn Cartelli captivates listeners with her comeback single “Long way home”.
Produced by Nathan Chapman (Taylor Swift, Shania Twain, Kylie Minogue), the upbeat track marks Brynn’s first release since 2019.
About it, the 17 year old singer-songwriter said: “Long Way Home is the first story I wanted to share off of my next project. I will never forget the day I wrote it with Nathan Chapman in Nashville, going around the studio and using random items as percussion. What started as a slow, weirdly depressing idea on piano (as almost all of my songs do) became a super fun pop record. Each lyric to me is a wink at the rush of young love in a small town. Getting lost on streets with no names, letting yellow lights turn red, purposely taking the Long Way Home, I’ll do anything to push the limits of my curfew. Long Way Home is the beginning of a story revealing who I am as a singer and songwriter.”
Lyrics:
Is it me or does
everybody
look exactly the same
In a house
On a couch
Making out
Playing dangerous games
So if I’m being honest
I really wanna leave this party
So how ‘bout you start it up?
We can take the long way home
down every going nowhere road
I don’t mind
The traffic lights
They’re giving me more time
To kiss you slow
we can take the long way home
Mama doesn’t need to know
Can you give me that speed
small town streets
Young and free
you and me
And the radio
Lets take the long way home
lets take take the long way home
We can say
we ran outta gas
Got lost and
Had a flat tire
pulling in the drive
Down to the wire
I’m so glad that we we left that party
Baby drive this kia like an Audi
So how bout you start it up?
We can take the long way home
down every going nowhere road
I don’t mind
The traffic lights
They’re giving me more time
To kiss you slow
we can take the long way home
Mama doesn’t need to know
Can you give me that speed
small town streets
It’s just you and me
And the radio
We can take the long way home
We can take the long way home
We can take the back roads
We can take the high way
I can go yours
You can go my way
I can yours
You can go my way
We can take the back roads
We can take the high way
I can go yours
You can go my way
I can yours
You can go my way
We can take the long way home
down every going nowhere road
I don’t mind
The traffic lights
They’re giving me more time
To kiss you slow
we can take the long way home
Mama doesn’t need to know
Can you give me that speed
small town streets
It’s just you and me
And the radio
We can take the long way home
We can take the long way home
