American Idol alum David Archuleta has shared a music video for his brand new single “Paralyzed”.
Written by David himself with Isabeau Miller Balin and Nate Dodge, the powerful song is the first single off of Archuleta’s upcoming eighth studio album.
Speaking about the song, the 28-year-old singer said: “It’s a bit of a venting song. I get frustrated watching myself hesitate so much, and not let go of things from the past that I know I should. A lot of those past things are fears, anger, resentment, and I see how they all form excuses in my mind of why I can’t move forward. I watch as missed opportunities fly by and I just do nothing, because I freeze. It gets me so frustrated! This song is the battle with those paralyzing thoughts and I intend to be the victor”.
The music video, directed by Brian Petchers (Meghan Trainor, Ashley Tisdale, Grace Vanderwaal), was filmed at the historic Lott House in Brooklyn.

Lyrics:

I hold on and I should let go
I wait to think when I really know
What should have been washed away a million years ago
I wake up to another day
Another chance to get out of my own way
I can’t move and wonder why

I’m paralyzed
By the pull of the tide that I’m under
By the strength, by the sound of the thunder
By the force, by the fear of the waking
The crash of the waves that could rip me away
(Oh, oh, oh) I’m paralyzed
(Oh, oh, oh) I’m paralyzed

It cuts deep, the shattered glass
The perfect picture frames I once had
Trying to rise up from the ash

Breaking myself from these chains that I’m making
The anchor’s here holding me down
Breaking myself from these chains that I’m making
The anchor’s here holding me down

I’m paralyzed
By the pull of the tide that I’m under
By the strength, by the sound of the thunder
By the force, by the fear of the waking
The crash of the waves that could rip me away
(Oh, oh, oh) I’m paralyzed
(Oh, oh, oh) I’m paralyzed

Breaking myself from these chains that I’m making
The anchor’s here holding me down
Breaking myself from these chains that I’m making
The anchor’s here holding me down
Breaking myself from these chains that I’m making
The anchor’s here holding me down
Breaking myself from these chains that I’m making
The anchor’s here holding me down

(Oh, oh, oh) I’m paralyzed
(Oh, oh, oh) I’m paralyzed
By the pull of the tide that I’m under
By the strength, by the sound of the thunder
By the force, by the fear of the waking
The crash of the waves that could rip me away
