One month after the single “Paralyzed” was released, Aussie star Delta Goodrem shares another track from her upcoming sixth studio album.
The song is called “Back in ’84” and was originally intended to be released with the CD version of her previous single.
Produced with her new boyfriend Matthew Copley, the arousing piano anthem reflects many defining moments in the Australian singer’s life.
Delta’s new album will be more intimate and personal. As for a release date, all she can promise is “it’s definitely going to be before the tour”.
Lyrics:
It was November, back in ’84
With Joe Cocker on the radio, the year that I was born
Back then was simple on the TV screen
Pictures of a better time printed on old magazines
But that was all back then and this is now
Can’t turn back around
And the generation’s hands are on the wheel
These are the best days, the best days of your life
They break us, they shape us to who we are
It’s the courage that it takes to live in these times
So make it the best days, the best days of your life
It was November back in ’91
The Berlin Wall came down, we hoped for no more guns
And I do remember back in ’94
Michael Jordan in the air, he inspired us to soar
But that was all back then and this is now
Can’t turn back around
Every generation’s hands are on the wheel
These were the best days, the best days of our life
They break us, they shape us to who we are
It’s the courage that it takes to live in these times
So make it the best days, the best days of your life
La la la…
Please, be the best days, the best days of our lives
If it breaks us, it’ll teach us to survive
It’s the courage that it takes to live in these times
It’s the best days, the best days of your life
What kind of text?
The text makes me sentimental, a little desperate, touches me and yet gives me courage.
It hints at the recurring things in life and yet the chance for something new. But it also says that the future path, whether it be a recovery or a new one, is made for the next generation. Sad and full of longing…
