Demi Lovato has just released a music video for the song “Tell me you love me”. The track is the title cut of the American singer-songwriter-actress’ sixth studio album, which was released on September 29.
Co-written by Roc Nation artist Kirby, Shakira producer John Hill and frequent Gallant collaborator Stint, the soulful, mid-tempo offering has a cinematic music video directed by Mark Pellington (Michael Jackson, Bon Jovi, U2).
It features Grey’s Anatomy star Jesse Williams, who plays Demi’s future husband. In the clip, the couple is determined to get married but then doubts and reflections lead them to break up.
Speaking about the song, the “Confident” hitmaker said: “The first time I heard it, it really stuck with me because at the time I was going through a breakup. … It’s about the vulnerability of coming out of a very serious relationship and having a tough time with it. … It also at the same time calls out a big misconception with the line, ‘You ain’t nobody ’til you got somebody,’ which again comes from that vulnerability with mixed emotions.”
In addition to her music release, Demi released a 78-minute documentary film, “Simply complicated” which offers an inside look at transformative moments in Lovato’s life.
