Du Tonc, the combo of Mighty Mouse and Matt Van Schie of Van She, released a new single called “We Can Hold On”.
The song is a smooth, ambling piece of synth work that feels as if it’s been crafted from a beachside breeze.

After the breakout success of their hit “Darkness” a couple of years ago, the pair have risen to cult appeal with a sound that keeps one foot firmly rooted in the nostalgic sensibilities of disco. Much like their earlier tracks, “We Can Hold On” keeps Van Schie’s relaxed vocals flush against beautifully arranged synth and bass guitar chords. A lush interlude midway adds an extra dynamic, emphasizing atmospherics that blend together like layers in a watercolor painting before crashing into outlying guitar riffs for the finish.

Lyrics:

Been waiting so long it’s harder enough
To try to hold on
How can we go on,
when all the road lead to somewhere far from home

We can hold on, get it back
Nothing else really matters
For the heaven sent
We can hold on, get it back
Nothing else really matters
For the heaven sent

We’ve been driving nowhere
So long we don’t feel the cold at all
How can we go on, when all the road lead to somewhere far from home

(x2)
We can hold on, get it back
Nothing else really matters
For the heaven sent
We can hold on, get it back
Nothing else really matters
For the heaven sent
