Former Glee star Chord Overstreet has just released a new single called “Hold on”.
Co-written by Chord himself, the country ballad is about his own experiences in a relationship and touches on the subject of suicide.
“‘Hold On’ is definitely one of the most meaningful songs I have written,” he said.
“The inspiration behind ‘Hold On’ is just the experience I’ve had [with] relationships. I’d been through a rough relationship that had its ups and downs — it was kinda crazy, back and forth. I feel like a lot of people have gone through that, and the picture that I wanted to paint was the unconditional love that person, even though something may end, it’s always eekind of haunting you a little bit.”
“Hold on” serves as the follow-up to “All I want for Christmas is a real good tan”, a Chord’s track originally recorded by Kenny Chesney.
His first official solo single was “Homeland”.
No album do not yet have a firm release date.

Lyrics:

Loving and fighting
Accusing, united
I can’t imagine a world with you gone
The joy and the chaos, the demons we’re made of
I’d be so lost if you left me alone
You locked yourself in the bathroom
Lying on the floor when I break through
I pull you in to feel your heartbeat
Can you hear me screaming “please don’t leave me”

Hold on, I still want you
Come back, I still need you
Let me take your hand, I’ll make it right
I swear to love you all my life
Hold on, I still need you

A long endless highway, you’re silent beside me
Drivin’ a nightmare I can’t escape from
Helplessly praying, the light isn’t fadin’
Hiding the shock and the chill in my bones
They took you away on a table
I pace back and fourth as you lay still
I pull you in to feel your heartbeat
Can you hear me screaming, “please don’t leave me”

Hold on, I still want you
Come back, I still need you
Let me take your hand, I’ll make it right
I swear to love you all my life
Hold on, I still need you

I don’t wanna let go
I know I’m not that strong
I just wanna hear you
Saying baby, let’s go home
Let’s go home
Yeah, I just wanna take you home

Hold on, I still want you
Come back, I still need you
