The Hearts are a new pop rock band hailing from Newport, South Wales. The band is composed by Alex Nash, Hamish Kay and Jamie Roberts.
After spending time away writing and recording for their forthcoming debut album, the trio are now back with new single “Lovers drug”, which is a catchy track with strong synths, brash guitars and a commanding chorus.
Produced and directed by the band, the video was recorded in an empty warehouse in Cardiff.
Speaking of the single release, Alex Nash explains: “Lovers Drug is a track I started writing about a year ago. Lyrically the song is a nod to our younger years and lust and love in adolescent minds. Addictive, but hard to work out which one you crave more. The video has a simple concept, I guess; I pop a (pill) love heart, it hits me, love it/hate it, repeat. By the time we did the final shot I was sugar wired and must’ve eaten a lifetime supply of sweets that said ‘be mine’ and ‘tickle me’. Rock ‘n’ roll, eh?”.
