It’s time to meet James Newman, a British singer-songwriter who will represent United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands with the song “Embers”.
The upbeat and positive track was written by Conor Blake, Danny Shah, Tom Hollings, Samuel Brennan and James Newman.
About it, the 35 year old artist said: “‘Embers’ is about those sparks that don’t die out. When we were writing this, it felt like I wanted to show everyone that we were coming back together. It’s about having that connection and something re-igniting. It’s about us emerging from this rubbish time we’ve been having. It fits with the idea that Eurovision is coming back”.
Born in Settle in 1985, Newman is the older brother of singer John.
He began his musical career in 2013. James co-wrote the Rudimental’s single “Waiting all night”, which it earned him a Brit Award for Best Song.
To date, the artist has only one EP to his credit “The Things we do”, released last year. In his career he has written for several other artists including Little Mix, Backstreet Boys, Toni Braxton and Jess Glynne.
