Last January, Julia Samoylova was announced as the Russian representative in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 with the song “I won’t break”.
Her name may be familiar to many because the pop-rock singer-songwriter was chosen to compete in the last year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev but she wasn’t able to participate it due to political issues and tensions between the Ukranian and Russian governments.
Born in the Republic of Komi, Julia has been using a wheelchair since childhood. Her strenght and angelic voice made her to get closer to the music.
After being guest of various musical competitions, she founded a short-lived band called TerraNova.
The real breakthrough happened when Julia was the runner-up of season three of Faktor A, the Russian version of The X Factor.
Also, she performed, during the ceremony of the Paralympic Games 2014 in Sochi.
“I won’t break” is a powerful r&b ballad written by Leonid Gutkin, Netta Nimrodi and Arie Burshtein who also wrote the lyrics for Julia’s last year entry “Flame is burning”.
