“Cry me a river” was released as the second single from Justin’s debut studio album “Justified” and it surpassed “Like I love you” single in chart success.
Written by Timberlake, Timbaland and Scott Storch, the track is about his breakup with Britney Spears.
2. Mirrors
Released in 2013, this pop-r&b ballad was Justin’s second solo UK number one following “Sexyback”.
The 8-minute music video, directed by acclaimed photographer and director Floria Sigismondi, was dedicated to Timberlake’s maternal grandparents William and Sadie Bomar, who were married for 63 years until William’s death in 2012.
“Mirrors” won a number of awards including two MTV Video Music Awards for Video of the Year and Best Editing in a Video.
3. Sexyback
Taken from Justin’s second studio album “FutureSex/LoveSounds”, the song was an instant success. It spent seven consecutive weeks at number-one in the US and was a worldwide hit.
4. My love
Recorded at Thomas Crown Studio & Conway Studios (Hollywood, CA), the song is a collaboration with American rapper T.I.
The music video was directed by Paul Hunter who had previously worked with Justin Timberlake on two other music videos (“Señorita” and “I’m lovin’ it”).
5. What goes around…comes around
Another single from the album “FutureSex/LoveSounds”, another brilliant production by Timbaland, “What goes around…comes around” is a song about a relationship that collapses because of cheating.
The intriguing music video starred Scarlett Johansson and Shawn Hatosy and was directed by Samuel Bayer.
Bayer is known for his music videos for Nirvana “Smells like teen spirit”, Green Day “Boulevard of broken dreams”, Maroon 5 “Payphone”.
