Mariah Carey has just shared “Save the day” as first single from her seventh compilation album “The rarities”.
Co-produced with Jermaine Dupri, the track samples Lauryn Hill’s vocals in the bridge of Fugees version of “Killing me softly with his song”.
“Save the day” was originally teased in 2011 during a studio session with Dupri and Randy Jackson. It was intended to be released as a charity single to raise money for human rights issues but, mysteriously, the song was never released at the time.
“The rarities” will be out October 2. The new project will contain unreleased cuts, b-sides and other rarities.
About it, Mariah said: “I found stuff in my vault that I had either started to work on a long time ago and never released or that I wanted to finish mixing. They’re songs that have previously not been released. It’s exciting and it’s a monumental occasion for my career.”
