Makeout are an American pop-punk band from Providence, Rhode Island.
Along with singer/guitarist Sam Boxold, guitarist Tyler Young and drummer Scott Eckel, the trio released two independent EPs as Trophy Wives beginning with 2012’s “Letting go” and followed in 2013 by “One way trip to Mars”.
Now Sam & co. shares a music video for “Blast off”, an energetic track taken from their debut album “The good life”, released last year.
About the single, Boxold said: “Blast Off is a song about letting go of the pressure people put on you when you’re having success, or lack thereof. It’s about where you’re heading and not where you’ve been. I always say, “Do your best, and if it’s good enough for you, that’s all that matters.” Without Blast Off, The Good Life just wouldn’t have felt complete. It’s kind of crazy cause when I was initially writing that song, I was thinking about all of the people that told me I needed to go the 9-5 route to have a happy and fulfilled life. There I was sitting in a studio in LA working with the likes of Travis Barker, John Feldmann, Lil Aaron, and Ashton and Calum of 5SOS and getting to live out my dreams. I always wanted to do exactly what I’m doing right now and none of it would have been possible if I didn’t believe in myself and ignore the doubters. I think it’s important to remind people of that, especially in such a social media based world”.
The music video for “Blast off” is a compilation of on-tour footage. So you can get an idea of how the band perform live.

I can hear you now, it’s the same old story
Cutting me down with your tales of glory
I can’t see the point, anyway
You said to go to school, need to get a real job
Marry a girl then you work work don’t stop
I can’t see the point, anyway

When you gonna grow up? (Grow up)
Destiny’s slipping away
You gotta grow up! (Grow up)
You’re all the same, you’re just my enemy

I’m blasting off so say goodbye
My final words are in the sky
You take a look and see me flying, I’m flying!

I’m merely aiming for the stars
It’s just a path that’s in my heart
You gotta look to see me flying, I’m flying!

I can hear you now testing all my patience
Carrying on pointless conversations
I refuse your points, anyway
I got an attitude and I can’t see reason
So damn rude like I’m the king of treason
What backs up your points, anyway?

It’s the life to be young
To be happy to see
That the future is bright
That was caught in between a moment

I’ll be honest the good
Always misunderstood
Yeah the future is bright
Even though it’s a fight in this moment

Say goodbye, my final words are in the sky
