Nick Kamen has passed away following a long battle with bone marrow cancer. He was 59 years old.
Born in Harlow, near London, Nick gained public attention in 1984 when fashion stylist Ray Petri featured him on the front cover of The Face.
The following year he starred in an iconic Levi’s advert. It was that spot, noticed by Madonna, at the height of her career, to give him his first hit “Each time you break my heart”.
The song reached the top ten in the UK, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Sweden, and Switzerland followed by his eponymous debut album.
Kamen’s growing popularity lead him to release his second album “Us”, an LP produced by Pat Leonard, formerly collaborator of great artists such as Roxi Music and Madonna.
Following this, he found success again with the singles “Tell me”, number one hit in Italy for nine weeks, and “I promised myself”, a song later covered by Dead or Alive, A-Teens and Basshunter.
More recent years saw Nick collaborates with some independent musicians with no new recordings planned.
