Hot Butter was an instrumental cover band active from 1971 to 1978. The group are best known for 1972 cover of “Popcorn”, originally recorded by its composer, Gershon Kingsley, in 1969.
The track became an international hit and it has since been covered by a great number of artists such as Aphex Twin, Muse and Crazy Frog.
In their short career, Hot Butter released only two albums: “Hot butter” (1972) and “More hot butter” (1973).
Frontman Stanley “Free” Friedland died in 1995.
