Belgium chose its entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018: Sennek with “A matter of time”.
Born as Laura Groeseneken in 1990, the singer and songwriter has already worked on several prestigious musical projects including the 50th anniversary celebrations of the James Bond franchise.
In her career, the artist has been singing with famous Belgian musician Ozark Henry.
Besides performing, Sennek always had the drive to write songs herself. Between projects, she got the chance to join Alex Callier (Hooverphonic) in the studio. Together they wrote the Hooverphonic single “Gravity” that was used as a soundtrack for a global advertising campaign by Cacharel.
“A matter of time” was written by Sennek with Alex Callier of Hooverphonic and Paris-based producer Maxime Tribeche. It’s an an evocative song where she sings about finding beauty in the most innocuous things.
“When I agreed to participate in Eurovision, I already had an atmosphere in my head” sayd Sennek. “It’s been a fantastic experience to be able to collaborate with Alex and Maxime, two very talented artists. To get to share ideas and opinions until we finally managed to come up with a composition that everyone is proud of. The song fits me like a glove: the melancholy feeling, the vocals, the contrast between dark and light… And I think a song’s message is so important for its potential to reach people.”
