Indie pop artist Tessa Violet has teamed up with Detroit singer-songwriter and YouTuber Chloe Moriondo for a new version of her single “Words ain’t enough”.
The poignant, melancholic track is taken from Tessa’s second studio album “Bad ideas” and it talks about a relationship with an emotionally abusive partner whose actions contradict what they say.
Tessa Violet explained how this collaboration came out: “While I was on tour with COIN in the spring of 2019, I had a few headline shows here and there while on the road. I was looking for some local support options around the country and fans had recommended Chloe Moriondo. But she ended up agreeing and flying out to Chicago for a Valentine’s Day show! I actually brought her out to sing ‘Words Ain’t Enough’ with me that night, so this collaboration has been in the stars for a while!”
In response, Chloe added: “Tessa is an amazing musician and person so it was really fun and natural to do this version of one of my favorite songs of hers together!! Being allowed to be a part of the beautiful music she creates is an honor”.
Another much appreciated version of “Words ain’t enough” is a duet with Dodie Clark.

Lyrics:

You’re fire, you’re proud
But you’re cold when it counts
It’s open and shut

You can say you love me
But – words ain’t enough

You want me, you say
But then you turn away
And I’m pressing my luck

You can say you love me
But – words ain’t enough

Cut myself into
Pieces easy to chew

Carve me up into
Someone you’d like to choose

Till I’m only pieces of you

So, you can say you love me
But – words ain’t enough

So, you can say you love me
But – words ain’t enough
