The Weeknd just dropped the sprawling, sexy, and hugely ambitious video for his new single “In the night” starring his real life girlfriend, model Bella Hadid.
The six-minute epic, directed by BRTHR and shot in Brooklyn, follows the Canadian crooner as he sings in the rain and hits the strip club.
Filmed with the quality of a VHS tape and shaded with neon colors, the video takes a dangerous turn when a few men take her hostage, only to turn into a bloodbath where Hadid and her friends exact revenge. It reaches its peak when The Weeknd stands in front of a man who’s pointing a gun at him, ready to fire, when Hadid takes matters into her own hands and shoots the assassin in the head.
The graphic video comes just a day after The Weeknd scored seven Grammy nominations including Album of the Year and Record of the Year.
He is currently on his “Madness Fall Tour” with special guests Travis Scott, Halsey, and Banks, which wraps Dec. 19 in Miami.
