Shannon is an American dance-pop artist best known for the hit “Let the music play”.
The single reached number one on the US Dance Club Songs chart in 1983.
After the huge success of “Let the music play”, the singer-songwriter scored other dance hits with “Give me tonight”, “My heart’s divided” and “Do you wanna get away”.
Three studio albums were released in the 80s, the last of which was a commercial failure.
In the early ’90s, Shannon preferred to stay out of the spotlight and then come back to sing as featured artist on two remarkable collaborations with dj-producers Todd Terry and Sash!.
A couple years later, she appeared in a segment of VH1’s One-Hit Wonders. The show encouraged her to release her fourth album “The best is yet to come”.
Today, her latest effort “A beauty returns” is a soulful album with memorable tunes and nice vocal arrangements.
Recently, Shannon has become a voting member of the Grammy’s. She continues to perform as well.
